[englisch/amerikanisch, 'ɑːnsə(r)sɔȖ], Bezeichnung aus dem amerikanischen Musikgeschäft für einen Titel, der ein anderes Stück aufgreift und gleichsam »beantwortet« oder karikiert. Ein berühmt gewordenes Beispiel dafür ist die Serie der »Annie«-Songs in den Fünfziger- und frühen Sechzigerjahren beginnend mit »Annie Get Your Gun« (1950) des Duos Betty Hutton (* 1921) und Howard Keel (* 1917), worauf Hank Ballards (* 1936) »Work With Me Annie« (1954) folgte, das im selben Jahr eine ganze Welle von Answer-Songs auslöste. »Annie's Answer« (1954) kam von den El Dorados, »Annie Had a Baby« (1954) wiederum von Hank Ballard, ebenso »Annie's Aunt Fannie« (1954), »Annie Doesn't Live Here Anymore« (1954) von Eartha Kitt (* 1928). »Annie Met Henry« (1955) steuerten die Cadets bei. »My Name Ain't Annie« (1954) kommentierte Linda Hayes (* 1934), »Annie Kicked the Bucket« (1954) kam von den Nu Tones. Einige Jahre später griff Little Richard (Richard Penniman, geboren 1935) die Geschichte mit »Annie Is Back« (1960) wieder auf, worauf die Gee Cees mit »Annie Had a Party« (1961), Syl Johnson (Sylvester Thompson, geboren 1936) mit »Annie Got Hot Pants Power« (1961) und Little Junior Parker (1927-1971) mit »Annie Got Your Yo Yo« (1962) antworteten.
